What a bunch of creative and quite different kinds of experts to put in one place. At their first-ever “unconference” over 100 authors of Dummies’ books are gathering across the Golden Gate bridge from here, over in San Francisco this weekend.
They are eager to learn from each other and to meet their readers at bookstore events sprinkled throughout the two days at the "lively" Book Passage (my favorite local bookstore here in Marin County and in San Francisco), revered Cody’s Books and elsewhere.
On Sunday, I’ve been asked to speak on “Marketing Yourself as a Professional Speaker.”
If you are a meeting planner who hires speaker or, if you are a paid speaker who’d like insights on how to create more memorable, meaningful meetings, then you may want a copy of this article I wrote: “How Event Planners, Exhibitors and Speakers Can Profitably Partner.”
Do you exhibit? Then you may want this one: “How Conference Planners & Exhibitors Can Leverage Their Visibility, Value & Profitability by Partnering – in Smart Ways” To request them (no charge) drop me an email over at my web site, Say it Better.
Along with author Alan L. Rubin, M. D., my dear friend, Janine Warner is one of the four unconference organizers. Versatile, talented Janine is the author of more than a dozen books about the Internet including Creating Family Web Sites For Dummies. Plus she is founder of DigitalFamily.com. Through Janine I met my impeccable editor of many years, Malinda McCain, Janine’s mother… ah the wonderful web of friendships and family the Internet can support.
See the online version of an article about this Dummies Unconference that will be in the Periscope section of Newsweek Magazine on newsstands this coming week. And the Marin Independent Journal has listed all of the Dummies’ authors’ bookstore appearances.
Some of the fascinating Dummies' authors include Marty Nemko, Ph.D. (Cool Careers For Dummies), Susannah Gardner (Buzz Marketing With Blogs, Bittorrent, and DreamWeaver MX 2004 For Dummies), Dr. Kate Wachs (Relationships For Dummies), Lita Epstein (Trading, Reading Financial Reports, Bookkeeping, and Retirement For Dummies), N. Brian Caverly (Estate Planning For Dummies) and Marty Brounstein (Coaching and Mentoring, Communicating Effectively, and Managing Teams For Dummies).
